Vintage Kitchen Blog Tour- Emory Dress

Vintage Kitchen Tour- Izzy & Ivy Designs Emory Dress- Snickerdoodle Stew

A few months ago I got an email from a new-to-me designer, asking me to be a part of her fabric blog tour. First of all, she said Riley Blake, so I was totally in, but then I saw these adorable designs in her Vintage Kitchen line and I was hooked! Andrea Mueller is the brain behind Jolijou and her work is fun and cheery and it was so fun to create with!

My kitchen isn’t really set up to do great photos, so rather than something kitcheny, I opted to make something for my daughter to wear. Vintage Kitchen has these great cat prints called Kitchen Cat, and I paired it with Kitchen Birds in red and Kitchen Drops in pink. Andrea even mailed me some coordinating ribbon, called Cat Love. You know I’m a sucker for trims!

You can see how I added the ribbon to the bottom of the apron, as well as the hem of the cap sleeves, and the headband. It just adds that touch of whimsy to this already fun collection.

The dress pictured is the Emory Dress from Izzy & Ivy Designs. I added the apron to the size 5 dress by hemming the bottom and sides of a 13″ x 18″ rectangle. I also omitted the hemband and added a little length to the skirt to compensate.

Originally I went driving in the downtown area of my city, looking specifically to see if this turquoise wall would look great with this dress. It did, but then I realized that the sign from the antique store across the street fit the bill for these vintage inspired designs.

A big THANK YOU goes out to Andrea from Jolijou for inviting me to be a part of this fun tour and to Riley Blake for the fabrics. The tour has been amazing with other talented sewists, so make sure that you check out the other stops along the tour! Vintage Kitchen is available in stores now, so ask for it at your favorite Riley Blake retailer!
