I had the opportunity again this year to sew up some pretties for a few fabulous designers for Fall Quilt Market. Before I sent them off, I snapped a few pics and I thought I’d share them with you today. In case you aren’t familiar, Fall Quilt Market is a giant trade show that is held in Houston, Texas each year and everyone that has fabric or patterns or new quilting and sewing things to show of is there to tease you with their latest wares. The first two items I sewed were dresses for a newcomer to fabric designing. I’ve been following Maureen Cracknell and her blog for a while now and she makes the most amazing quilts and other crafty things! I listened to a podcast about her and her new line, Wild and Free and felt like if we lived in the same town, we’d surely be great friends. Her aesthetic is earthy and very natural and her new, Limited Edition line for Art Gallery Fabrics really evokes that feeling. I was able to sew with her knits, and I combined them with several Art Gallery Solids.
The second designer I had the honor to sew for is my sweet friend, Vanessa Christenson. She is the mad genius behind V and Co and not only does she design fun and cheery fabric and gorgeous quilts, she is a riot! We had always talked about me sewing up something for her girl noisemaker (honest…that’s what she calls her!) and this was a great opportunity to do that. I don’t have pretty modeled pics for this one, but I didn’t have the right size model. That said, the fabric and dress pattern came together beautifully and I think it was a great combo.
