One of the coolest things I got to see at Quilt Market was Carina Gardner’s infamous camper AKA “Glamper”. She redid the inside of the camper to reflect her newest line for Riley Blake Fabrics. Pulled it right into the convention center! Quilting friends from far and near sewed up the cutest mini quilts and projects, which were on display, and it even won a booth award!
I had already been invited to be a part of the Posy Garden Tour before I went to Quilt Market, so I was excited to get a chance to meet Carina. We didn’t get to chat for long, but she was super sweet and friendly! Getting to meet the people behind the gorgeous fabric makes creating with their designs so much fun and pushes me to be more creative. I’m definitely honored to be included in the amazing lineup of makers for this tour! Make sure you check out Carina’s post, which includes a schedule of all the blogs that are participating in this tour.
And now for the fabric! I loved the rich coral and cool navy prints when I first saw Posy Garden, and I thought it would be great for that Summer-to-Fall transition. I also wanted to take one of my favorite Izzy & Ivy PDF patterns, Emory, and so some serious hacking. I’ve done several things with the Emory dress before, but it had been a while since I had sewn it in a top length. I took it over the top by adding an underskirt that peeks out so sweetly. It was a great way to give another pop of coral to a mostly navy palette.
I love the scalloped edges on the hemband and bodice fabric, and carried that through as a theme with my Sweet Polly’s Capris in the Lace Blue print from Riley Blake’s Idle Wild knits. The delicate pink Cluny lace from Little Red Cottage on Etsy added a perfect touch as well.
My favorite part of this Emory hack has got to be the exposed lace zipper!!! I had wanted to attempt this for a long time and it’s one of those things that you really don’t know if it works until the very end. Miss L was close to growing out of her size 5 Emory dresses, so I sized up and the fit is perfect! I could probably be talked into a tutorial on this at some point. *Hint hint*. It was so easy and the outcome is simply stunning, if I do say so myself!
So fun and elegant, right?
I love this collection from Carina as it adds a little bit of maturity to my sweet, almost-7-years-old’s wardrobe, but it also keeps the fun and whimsy alive. I hope you take a look at all of the prints and colorways in Posy Garden, and then have fun sewing your own creations!
Thanks to Carina and Riley Blake for having me on this tour! For another great back to school outfit, you can check out my Charly in Carina’s Wiltshire Daisy fabric, too!
