Lovely as a Summer Day

C’mon…sing it with me…

La la la– la– la la, La la la– la– la la

My cherie amour, lovely as a summer day….

I’ve seriously been singing Stevie Wonder ever since I laid eyes on Cherie, this amazing, French-inspired fabric from Frances Newcombe and Art Gallery Fabrics.  It just whispers open air markets and flowers and lazy afternoon bike rides in Paris. Not that I’ve ever been to Paris, but a girl can dream, right? I’ve gotten to know Frances in the last few months, after using her Safari Moon line for dresses for a charity auction to raise funds for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.  Their mascot is a zebra, so Safari Moon was a no brainer, in my opinion. I sent my pics to the fabulous Miss Frances and she loved what I did with her fabrics!  We emailed back and forth for a while and when it came close to the time for Cherie to hit the stores, she generously sent me fabric to sew up some pretties!  I wanted to pick a pattern that would really feature the feminine side of the Joie de Vivre fabric in Beryl, so I chose the sweet Emory pattern from Izzy & Ivy Designs.

I thought this dress was perfect to add little peeks of complimentary fabrics from the line, like this pop of pink on the bodice,

and the button loops on the back.

The Emory also has these pockets that are like little fabric packages that can hold the tiniest of treasures.

The cotton from Art Gallery Fabric s is known for its exceptional feel and you really just have to get your hands on some!  It has an exquisite drape and works well in many applications, from garments and quilts, to pretty much any sewn project you can think of!  The quality is topnotch and it washes and wears very well.

This sweet, crochet trim bias tape is from the ladies at Vintage Door on Etsy.

You can even use some of the prints from Cherie in garments for boys!

Now that you’ve seen these amazing fabrics, go order some for your own stash…or petting…drooling…whatever!

A huge MWAH to my new BFFF (Best Fabric Friend Forever), Frances, for sending me this amazing fabric and trusting me to create something worthy of her gorgeous line!  You can follow her on her blogFacebook, or Instagram!  Be sure to check out her new line, Utopia, that arrives in October!
