I’ve always made my daughter something for holidays, but it’s been a really long time since I’ve been able to manage to have all three in coordinating outfits. In fact, it was three years ago. I don’t mean to overlook the boys, but it just happens.
Look how little! They were 5, 8 months, and 3, respectively. My how time flies!
This year I made it a point to make the boys matching ties to go with Lydia’s outfit, and I think they thought they looked pretty spiffy! I chose the Izzy & Ivy Designs’ Little Vicki pattern for Lydia and the Sew Like My Mom Men’s Bow Tie for the boys. I brought the look together with Bonnie Christine’s Forest Floor and Cultivate fabrics for Art Gallery Fabrics.
For the boys’ ties, I used a men’s bow tie, but I sized it down for their neck size. I really love that this is a real bow tie and it sews up so fast!
Little Vicki accommodates sizes 1-6, and is a paper pattern. I altered it by adding a ruffle in place of the hemband and then added flat piping to the seam with the ruffle. I love how it turned out and how it drapes so gorgeously with that classic Art Gallery Fabric softness.
That classic collar and those pleats? I’m going to be playing with this pattern as much as I can before she sizes out! Which means we’ll just have to PDF-ify Little Vicki and add more sizes, right? *wink*
I really love these Luna moths. I will have to find a project for the same print in the Early Bright colorway.
Pretty clothes and fabric aside, we had a great time as a family on Resurrection Sunday, celebrating our Savior who died so that we might have life.
