I am a huge fan of pajamas. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because pajamas = sleep (most of the time, anyway) and as a mom of 3, I’m almost always lacking in that department. Maybe it’s because you can relax and be yourself and no one cares, because for the most part, no one sees you in your pjs except your family. Unless you’re running late for school drop off and you throw on shoes and a bra (or just a really thick sweatshirt- ha!) and load everyone up in the car, praying you don’t get pulled over or get a flat. Or at least that’s what I hear, anyway. *ahem*
I do know that one of my favorite things is reading to my kids before bedtime. It didn’t always used to be that way. I was tired and I really wanted them to go to bed so I could get on with MY stuff. What I’ve come to realize, aside from the fact that they LOVE books, is that it’s just a fun time to wind down and get in that one last snuggle before bed. And don’t even get me started on fleece footie pajamas on my littlest guy. I swear he’s going to be 12 and begging me to JUST STOP already.
Let me introduce you to Riley’s Nightgown & Sleep Shirt from Everything Your Mama Made and More. It’s a super quick, really versatile, unisex pajama that is easy wearing and comfy. It ranges from sizes newborn to 18 tween (what?!?!) and can be worn by any size and shape! It’s made from stretchy knit fabrics and you can make them appeal to almost any kid.
I wanted to make these in Christmas fabrics and I knew I didn’t want anything too girly or cheesy, so I went with these stripes and solids from Purple Seamstress Fabric. I highly recommend Mel’s cotton/lycra knits and her customer service is amazing!
My little guy is 2 1/2, so bottoms are a must since he’s still in diapers. I used the sleep shirt length of the Riley and paired it with the LilyGiggle Petunia Petal Leggings, minus the petals. Perfect match!
I discovered this amazing Advent book this year and to be honest, the kids get a kick out of me reading it because I often get choked up and weepy when I tell that day’s story. It’s THAT good. Because I think I need to hear the stories to prepare my heart for Christmas as much as they do. This is Unwrapping the Greatest Gift by Ann Voskamp and I’m so happy to have this new tradition in our home for Christmas. Bedtime snuggles and stories are even more special when it’s good for their hearts.
So the best part of this post is that I am not the only one that had the privilege of sewing up this cute top! I’m one of the last stops on the Everything Your Mama Made and More “All Tucked in for the Holidays” Blog Tour!
